EPA Compliance Prior to State Registration

Before you can register a pesticide product in Massachusetts, it must first be registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA registration number is required for state registration.

Massachusetts State Registration

Submit a complete registration application through the Environmental Information and Public Access System (EIPAS) via the EEA ePLACE Portal. This application must include:​

* Agent Authorization Letter (if applicable)

* EPA Notice of Supplemental Distribution (if applicable)

* Pesticide Product Labeling

* Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

Fees

The current fees for registering a pesticide product in Massachusetts are:

* New Pesticide Product Registration: $300

* New Active Ingredient/Product Registration: $750

* Pesticide Product Renewal: $300

* Experimental Use Permit (EUP) Fee: $200

Review and Approval

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) reviews the application for compliance. The Pesticide Board Subcommittee must approve new product registrations. Once approved, new registrations are valid from the approval date until the end of the fiscal year (June 30th).


Renewal

Pesticide product registrations expire annually on June 30th. Renewal notices and forms are sent to registrants in early May.
